About the Role…

 

Are you an experienced accounting professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, analysing financial performance and contributing to business success?

 

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to support the financial management and reporting of Sydney Showground and Venue Operations.

 

This role is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis to support informed decision-making across the business. Working closely with cost centre managers and operational stakeholders, you will provide financial insights, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation. 

 

You will be responsible for preparing monthly management reports, forecasts and budgets, analysing variances, maintaining account reconciliations and supporting the year-end audit process. You will also act as a trusted business partner to operational teams, helping managers understand financial performance and achieve their objectives. 

 

A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to be involved in the financial operations of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, including managing concessionaire revenue processes, coordinating internal audits and supporting financial reporting for one of Australia's largest annual ticketed events. 

 

Beyond day-to-day accounting responsibilities, you will contribute to process improvements, special projects and the ongoing development of finance systems, policies and procedures across the RAS.

 

 

About you…

 

You are a proactive and commercially minded accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers and building strong relationships across a business. You have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial support.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy solving problems and can confidently manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Completed tertiary qualifications in Accounting
  • CPA, CA or equivalent qualification (or working towards completion)
  • Experience in a management accounting or similar accounting role
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and management reports
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience reconciling accounts, preparing journals and month-end reporting
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation

 

Desirable:

  • Audit experience

  • Experience working with commercial accounting software

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and/or Momentus

  • Experience within events, venue operations, hospitality or similar industries

  • Experience supporting operational managers through financial analysis and reporting
