Agricultural Education Officer

About the role...

Use your educational background, skills and passion for agriculture and work on the largest ticketed show in the southern hemisphere, the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This is not your average teaching job, we need a passionate educator who loves a great event and is looking to create life time memories for students and teachers.

 

Key Responsibilities

To provide high quality education services, resources and events for the RAS

  • Coordinate an RAS agricultural educational program to engage and educate NSW school teachers and students year round, including the development and delivery of educational content for excursions, incursions and Teacher Professional Development;
  • Assist with the development of an interactive education program for the future permanent RAS education site;
  • Present opportunities to research, develop and present new education initiatives and programs to the Agricultural Development team and RAS management;
  • Develop, review and update primary and secondary resource materials across a range of subjects ensuring they are syllabus linked;
  • Coordinate the SRES Schools and OOSH programs, including the logistics, contracting, payment and equipment/consumables required for school and OOSH sessions at the Show;
  • Provide administration support for the RAS educational program. This includes distributing information to the schools database, taking and processing excursion bookings, receiving school enquiries via phone and email and coordinating school excursions;
  • Field all school and teacher enquiries regarding the SRES Schools and OOSH programs and assist with the ticket booking process and distribution of tickets.

 About you...

  • Successful completion of a degree course in Education
  • Classroom teaching experience and classroom program development
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Be energetic and committed
  • Be legally entitled to live & work in Australia.
  • Be willing to undertake a police clearance check if required
  • Current and Valid NSW Working With Children’s Check (WWCC)

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) manages the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, the RAS Foundation, Australasian Animal Registry, and the Sydney Showground. The RAS has a team of over 130 full-time staff – and an indispensable pool of casual staff - who work on the Easter Show, events at the Sydney Showground and other activities and events.
