Why you will enjoy this role...

 

Due to an internal promo on, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Coordinator to assist with the planning and execution of various events held at ENGIE Stadium at Sydney Showground; home to the GWS GIANTS in the AFL, and Sydney Thunder in the BBL.  

  

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Stadium Events & Operations, you will maintain and grow existing client relationships, working together to deliver prestige, elite level sporting and special events. Whilst this role has a focus on Stadium related events, you will also be required to assist with other events held at Sydney Showground throughout the year. 

  

You will be responsible for a range of services including, but not limited to: 

  • Work closely with venue hirers and operational departments to plan match day corporate hospitality
  • Maintain high standards in venue presentation and service, ensuring venues are well-prepared for clients
  • Work closely with our Event Planning team to coordinate all event details effectively
  • Handle training requirements for sporting teams
  • Act as the Fire Warden during events, ensuring site safety, and monitoring compliance with relevant regulations
  • Conduct pre and post-event venue inspections, recording and addressing any damages
  • Oversee safety inductions for contractors and their staff
  • Promote effective communication and cooperation with various stakeholders
  • Supervise and train casual staff, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately
  • Plan and execute Front of House functions for events, including ticketing, ushering, and crowd management
  • Identify and resolve resource conflicts to ensure smooth event operations
  • Manage medical and sports-related equipment, ensuring functionality

Our core office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, however the nature of the event industry means that this role requires event driven hours over 7 days including weekend, evening and public holiday work.

 

To excel in this role, you will have...

 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification in Venue/Event Management or related field
  • Current Class C Driver's license
  • Forklift License (desirable)
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (desirable)
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Experience

  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations
  • Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • Previous experience in Ushering and/or Crowd Management
  • Previous experience working on major events
  • Knowledge and experience in operating services and plant associated with venue operations

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of Ungerboeck Event Business Management System (UB)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Event Draw
