About the Role

Join the team that keeps Sydney Showground event-ready every day. As a Grounds Labourer, you’ll help maintain our main arena and precinct grounds—supporting major events from AFL, soccer and cricket to the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Your work spans turf care and line-marking to garden installation, venue resets and assisting with deliveries, all while following safe systems of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain turf areas; repair/install soft and hard landscaping (gardens, trees, temporary/permanent grounds).

• Line-mark the main arena playing surface.

• Safely operate plant/equipment: fairway mowers, tractors, forklift, aerators, brush cutters, push mowers, Amazone, hand/power tools; use ladders/scaffolds.

• Perform basic lubrication/maintenance on plant and equipment per manufacturer guidance.

• Load/unload deliveries; assist with temporary services and event builds/pack-downs.

• Correct and safe use of chemicals, fertilisers and PPE; keep workshops and stores clean and tidy.

• Liaise positively with internal teams, contractors, clients, visitors and authorities; work near animals and entertainers as required.

• Follow WHS & Environmental programs, emergency and evacuation procedures; report hazards and incidents promptly.

About You

• Practical, hands-on team player with good initiative and time management.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation; reliable and safety-minded.

• Calm, resourceful and helpful during live event operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Year 10 (minimum).

• MR class driver licence.

Desirable

• Grounds/gardens or sports field maintenance experience; related trade qualification.

• ChemCert, First Aid, OHS/WHS training; experience working with animals.

• Forklift, EWP (boom lift), tractor/front-end loader/HGV licences (advantageous).

• Basic computer skills.
